Our Story
Studio Arukione
What started as a hobby quickly became a problem and a passion for creator Brianne Schiebler. More than ten months into her journey, hundreds of once-white textiles and garments are now uniquely designed with indelible pigments.
Prior media include historical, cultural, political critique on paper and screens. Brianne now brings those skills and passion for challenge into more than two dimensions.
With a background in art history and degrees in Media Studies and Empire, Arukione brings Brianne's well-recognized skills of refusal, argument, and re-creation into something that can be felt, held, and put to good use. Her talent for complicating everything, breaking it down, re-making it in her own vision, with her own rules, in her own words, by her own lineage, shapes her textile work.
Shibori takes patience. It is labor-intensive, tough on one's body, difficult to learn, and takes discipline to do well. But it's also a problem and a solution one can hold with two hands.
We celebrate refusal.
We dare brightly.
We go back to blue.
Come with us.

Our Second Customer
The individual character of each piece is why I collect them. The subtle variations, the experimentation, the intention behind each pattern is priceless.
